Welcome to the Dovetail Cabin
the Dovetail Cabin is the perfect week long or weekend retreat.
Quaint, Quiet, and Relaxing . . .
Perched High in the White Mountains of Arizona at 8500 ft. A truly one of a kind place to fish, hike and just plain sit on the porch and enjoy the great outdoors. March, April, and May are prime fishing times. June, July and August are the monsoon season where each afternoon a rain shower is an excellent time to listen to the rain pitter patter on the front porch roof while enjoying the cool high country air.
Listen to the wind in the pine trees; seek wild flowers or better yet mushrooms. The wildlife should keep you constantly on the lookout, as well as the stellar jays looking for you to feed them. Deer and elk can be seen watering by the lake and an occasional porcupine will wander by. Coyotes can also be seen and if you watch way off in the distance the rare Mexican wolf may be seen as a flash of fur.
Walk down to the 2 small ponds in the evening and the ducks, muskrat and beaver can be observed. But a real treat are the fireflies which seem to congregate around the ponds after sunset.
Down at the larger reservoirs, herons, mergansers and osprey will entertain you with their antics and yes a bald eagle may even pass by to make your day. Most of these Birds are fishing and this makes it a great time to try it for yourself.
